My work is mostly figurative. I work with a collection of family or found photos to begin each project. I am attracted to a certain expression of the subject in the photo that is tentative, wary, unsure. My work is a statement of my view of the world as I perceive it through the faces and body language of my long-deceased relatives from a cold Northern country- not too much different from the cold northern country in which I have lived for the past 15 years.
I have been an exhibiting artist since 1962 working in oil, acrylics and mixed media. My current working process has evolved over the past 12 years from working with mixed-media small scale pieces on watercolor paper to working on rice paper and specially prepared canvas and surfacing my work with acrylics, oils or encaustics.
